Recent Events

PERCEPTION PETERBOROUGH
Through Haring Woods Associates, this project has employed the approaches used by GHP, promoting GHP on an international stage. The project is being held up as a model of best practice through the United Nations Environmental Programme.

MUSEUMS, SUSTAINABILITY AND GROWTH CONFERENCE
Tony Beckwith was invited to speak at the Museums, Sustainability and Growth Conference held at Norwich Castle Museum on 23rd and 24th October 2008

NORTHERN IRELAND LOCAL GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION (NILGA)
invited Tony Beckwith to give a keynote speech focusing on GHP at their Forum for Local Government and the Arts in November 2008 in Co. Antrim. The conference explored the contribution that the arts and creative industries are making to building sustainable communities across a range of local government areas in the UK.

REDEFINING COMMON SPACE THROUGH THE ARTS, ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN
Tony Beckwith represented GHP at this international symposium on 29/30 May 2008, which was co-hosted by CivWorld and Demos, Gunpowder Park and the Design Museum. This is one of the 'Dialogues' of Gunpowder Park’s Art of Common Space Project.

GHP was selected from 450 potential case studies to be presented at THE UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE’S CENTRE FOR RESEARCH IN THE ARTS, SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES, as part of ‘Expert Witness’, a NESTA funded research project into innovative working practices in the UK. Michael Woods joined fellow ‘experts’ David Cleevely, entrepreneur (founder of companies including Analysys and Abcam), Tom Rodden, director of the EQUATOR Interdisciplinary Research Consortium and Alison Rodger, professor of biophysical chemistry at the University of Warwick. www.crassh.cam.ac.uk

LOCA, THE ARTS & REGENERATION AGENCY FOR KIRKLEES COUNCIL IN YORKSHIRE responded very positively to the presentation given by Tony Beckwith and Sherry Dobbin on GHP’s approach to creative consultation and working with artists to involve communities in the design of places, spaces and neighbourhoods.
